Tommy Hilfiger announced a collaboration with leading digital avatar creator, Ready Player Me to bring their gear to the metaverse.
The phygital collection, titled Parallel by Tommy Hilfiger gives shoppers the option to purchase a physical garment, along with a digital twin to be worn by their digital avatar across various Ready Player Me apps, worlds, and games like VRChat, Spatial, and Somnium Space. It’s important to note that this is not an NFT, but rather a digital twin of a physical item.
Users who have yet to create a Ready Player Me avatar are able to preview their Tommy Jeans outfit on a range of temporary models. Virtual outfits are priced at €8 on site (but can be claimed for free for the time being.), while physical garments follow the same pricing structure as listed on the Tommy Hilfiger website.
To checkout flow to claim a virtual outfit is fairly smooth. Users who have yet to create a Ready Player Me avatar are able to preview their Tommy Jeans outfit on a range of temporary models. Once you are happy with your desired fit, simply enter your email address and wait for an email from Ready Player Me with additional instructions.
This move continues the legacy brand’s ascension into the metaverse, building off their experimentation at Decentraland Metaverse Fashion Week and their launch of ‘Tommy Space.’ on Roblox. This partnership also furthers Ready Player Me’s push into the mainstream cultural zeitgeist as it continues to establish itself as the premier metaverse avatar supplier.
